Do You Believe This!!!!!

This is what we woke up to on MAY 12TH for goodness sake! I woke up and Larry said he had hoped I would sleep through it and avoid the horror that way. But since it is STILL snowing at 9:30 I guess it was unavoidable! The ducks don't seem to mind it near as much as I do! Luckily, we got lazy and didn't put out the squash and watermelon plants yesterday afternoon like we were going to do. Tomorrow is going to be warm I hope because if this keeps up Larry might have to leave me in Alabama until it warms up! There is no way to tan in this for our vacation next week!

Summer's Baked Delights

This is Summer's "Best Ever Wheat Bread." She is working on recipes to make for a small baked goods table at the Farmer's Market. She hasn't settled on name yet but she hopes to be open by June 7th at the Farmer's Market downtown on Saturday mornings.

Cousin's Up to Visit

Karen and the boys came up for the weekend and Larry took over entertaining the boys. He took them all Leek hunting very successfully, and fishing, also very successfully. They spent the rest of the weekend shooting bb's at any stationary object that would sit on the big rock out back. A grand time was had by all! Summer , Karen, and I went shopping to a bunch of little shops in Galeton. Then went down and got coffee. The boys and Larry fried up the fish and made a leek and ham dinner that was wonderful! Larry took us all out to the legion for Mother's day buffett. It was great. My chickens and ducks got all sorts of attention and it was a wild, crazy, wonderful time.

Hunter's Final 4-H Project

Here is Hunter's final cake for cake decorating this year. He did a great job. He iced it himself an helped bake the cake and make the icing. His future wife can thank me for all her future birthday cakes. He even helped clean up this mess afterward!

Mom's Bag

Here is another completed project. The kids and I made this for Mom for Mother's day. We dyed the wool with pink lemonade and Garrett wound the balls of yarn. Summer Garrett and Hunter picked out the handles and embellishments and Summer and I felted it. It was a family act to be sure.

Farmgirl Ingenuity

So this morning my biddies were anxious to spread their wings but are a week away from coop ready. So Summer and I devised a little plan. We had the chicken wire and decided a play coop was in order, so here is our world famous chicken playpen made from the wire we didn't want to cut ( we are making the coop this weekend) and Hunter's soccer net. They are quite happy and have been flying all over each other in the little pen. This other picture is Hunter doing his "7's" in Math while guarding the chicken coop. He was worried about their safety.

EEEEk the Meeps are Coming!

These are Garrett's creations, the Meeps. They are made from old socks and fabric scraps. He is writing a story to go with them and the family keeps growing! Hunter has caught the fever and made his first Meep yesterday.

Summer's Knitting Projects

Summer made two felted pocketbooks in a monumental effort for her friend 16th birthdays. We wanted to post the final pictures but she gave one away before we took the picture. Even though we took the other now we can't find it but here she is knitting one of them. She is talented in everything she does.

One Big Happy Farmsite!

We don't know if Maggie likes the chickens or just the chicken food! She already eats the cat's food and now the duck food. Why should the chickens not get a fair share of Maggie attention. Guinness just likes everybody!
The kids insisted we put up the picture of me with the chicken roosting on my arm.

Hockey Fever Redneck Style

This is not a murder suspect from a horror movie, this is Garrett in the hockey outfit he and Hunter have put together since the playoffs have started. They have caught hockey fever and have constructed their own field and practice training equipment. This is redneck hockey first class and they are loving it. They play for hours and if they keep this up the Pengiuns might call them up to finish the season.

Our Anniversary Birdfeeder and the Chicks

This is just a few pictures of what is going on around here. These are our growing flocks of ducks and chickens. The bird feeder is huge and an amish boy makes them around here. We put it up on our anniversary and it is beautiful, the blue jays have found it so the rest won't be far behind.

Shooting Ends and Turkey Season Begins

The Bullseye Blaster's had their final pizza party last week. This is the cake that Summer and Hunter made for the event. They had a lot of fun and are already looking forward to next year. Buck Jackson and the Martins do a fantastic job organizing it, thank you! As one season ends another begins and here is Garrett getting ready for turkey hunting. The boys have been going under the mentoring program but Summer has been sleeping in, waiting til they find the turkey so she can shoot it and be back to bed within the hour!
